Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Image to STL browser extension ("Extension", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our service. We aim to collect only what is needed to turn your image into a 3D model and keep the service reliable.

1. What the Extension Does

Image to STL lets you upload a PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WebP image and generate a 3D model from it. The Extension sends your selected image to our backend service, where it is processed by generation infrastructure. The result can be previewed in the Extension and used as a starting point for 3D printing, CAD cleanup, Blender, or other modeling workflows.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data required to provide and operate the service:

  • Uploaded images — the image files you choose for generation, plus basic file metadata such as content type and size. These files are sent to our backend and may be stored with the related generation job.
  • Generated model data — generated 3D model files, output file references, processing status, and preview thumbnails used to show your recent generation history.
  • Anonymous session data — a session ID and anonymous user ID so the Extension can keep your history associated with your browser without requiring an account.
  • Feedback and contact messages — if you email us or submit a feedback form, we collect the contact details and message you choose to provide so we can respond or improve the product.
  • Operational data — server logs, request timestamps, generation IDs, status changes, and error details needed to run, debug, secure, and improve the service.

We do not collect payment information, browsing history, precise location, camera or microphone data, or data from websites you visit. The Extension does not require personal accounts or passwords.

3. How We Use Your Data

Data you provide is used only to:

  • Generate a 3D model from the image you upload.
  • Return generation status, model output, and preview thumbnails.
  • Show recent generations for your anonymous browser session.
  • Prevent abuse, debug failures, and operate the service.
  • Respond to feedback or contact messages you send us.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or ad targeting. Generation requests may be shared with third-party generation infrastructure only so the core image-to-3D functionality can work.

4. Local Data Storage

The Extension stores a small amount of data locally in your browser:

  • Your anonymous session ID.

The selected image preview in the Extension is temporary UI state and is not kept as a separate local history by the Extension. Your recent generation list is loaded from our backend for the current anonymous session. Clearing the Extension’s site data or local storage removes the local session ID from your browser and may disconnect the browser from previous generation history.

5. Extension Permissions

The Extension is designed to use only the browser access needed for its image-to-model flow:

  • Host permission — access to our backend API server so the Extension can upload your image, poll generation status, retrieve model output, and upload preview thumbnails.

The Extension does not request permissions for browsing history, cookies, location, camera, microphone, or payment data. It does not collect page content from websites you visit.

6. Third-Party Services

Our backend uses Runware and underlying AI model infrastructure to generate 3D models from uploaded images. Uploaded images and related generation identifiers may be forwarded to these providers solely for model generation and retrieval. We use Bunny Storage to store uploaded images, generated model files, and preview thumbnails. These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and data handling terms.

7. Analytics and Tracking

The Extension does not include advertising analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking. Our backend records operational events and server logs needed to provide the service, troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and improve reliability during development and beta testing.

8. External Links

The Extension may open our website (https://image-to-stl.uk) when you first install the Extension and when you uninstall it. These navigations do not transmit your uploaded images or generated model data to the website. If you choose to submit feedback on an external form or by email, the information you provide is handled by that form provider or email service as well as by us.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect data transmitted between the Extension and our backend. Communication with our server uses encrypted connections in production. Locally stored session data is protected by your browser’s built-in security mechanisms.

10. Data Retention

Uploaded images, generated model files, preview thumbnails, anonymous session records, generation history, operational logs, and feedback messages may be retained for service operation, history display, support, abuse prevention, debugging, and product improvement. If you want to request deletion of data associated with your anonymous session, contact us at the email below and include any relevant generation or session details you can access.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised Last updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

13. Contact Us

If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, contact us at [email protected].
